What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a standard for the transmission of data through personal wireless networks. Two devices equipped with Bluetooth exchange information without being physically connected. TEXA CARe communicates with the smartphone using this standard.

What is the GPS?

The GPS (Global Positioning System) is a civil satellite navigation and positioning system. The GPS module installed in your smartphone allows you to locate the vehicle in which TEXA CARe is installed.

Once the data that will appear in the Expirations section is set in a smartphone, will this data appear in other smartphones that I use?

Yes, the data related to the expirations is stored in TEXA’s servers and communicated to the

smartphones. In particular:

• the data regarding the expirations related to the vehicle (ex. service) is communicated to all the

smartphones in which the CARe App is installed and that are configured to monitor a certain

vehicle;

• the data related to personal expirations (ex. license) is communicated to your personal profile

only.

What do I have to do after restoring the factory setting on my smartphone?

After restoring the factory settings, you must download the CARe App and carry out the configuration procedure again, accessing using your credentials (Username and Password).

What do I have to do if I change smartphone?

If you change smartphone, you must download the CARe App in the new smartphone and carry out the configuration procedure again, accessing using your credentials (Username and Password).

Do I keep my data switching from an Android smartphone to an iOS one or vice versa?

Yes, when switching from an Android smartphone to an iOS one or vice versa, the data related to your vehicle remains unchanged and the data related to your account will come up again on the new smartphone.
Your vehicle’s data, the expirations that were entered, etc. are saved in TEXA’s servers and made available to all the devices that are associated with your specific TEXA CARe.
Therefore, no problem is there are different smartphones in the family! At the moment, Android and iOS smartphones are compatible.

Can the CARe App be installed in a tablet?

No, the CARe App, due to its SOS Service function, needs for the operators of the Operations Centre to be able to recall the driver using a phone number. The phone number must be the one of the smartphone the CARe is associated with. Tablets, not having a phone number, are not supported.

Are there extra charges for the traffic generated by the CARe App?
No, but you must have a phone contact that includes a data plan.
I have a limited data plan. How much does the CARe App use up?

The CARe App uses a few kB for normal use. Updates may require a few dozen MB, but in this case the user must authorise the update and therefore decide to proceed using a Wi-Fi network.

Does the CARe App affect my smartphone’s battery usage?

The CARe App is developed in order to affect the battery usage as little as possible; how long the charge lasts varies based on the model and the state of wear of the battery itself. For example, the GPS module is used by the Find Vehicle or by the SOS requests; in all the other cases, it is not interrogated by TEXA CARe.

I cannot find TEXA CARe in the pairing list on my smartphone. What can I do?

SOLUTION 1:

TEXA CARe only accepts one connection at a time and, once a connection is established, it becomes invisible to all the other smartphones.

Make sure TEXA CARe is not already connected to another smartphone in the surroundings.

To solve the problem, proceed as follows:

1. Disconnect TEXA CARe from the other smartphone it is connected to

2. Start the search for Bluetooth devices again

SOLUTION 2:

If TEXA CARe is not configured or is not able to communicate with the control unit, after a few minutes it switches to economy mode and cannot be seen by the other smartphones.

To solve the problem, proceed as follows:

1. Turn off the vehicle

2. Restart the vehicle

3. Start the search for Bluetooth devices again

Or:

1. Disconnect TEXA CARe from the vehicle's OBD socket

2. Reconnect TEXA CARe to the vehicle's OBD socket

3. Start the search for Bluetooth devices again

SOLUTION 3:

If the solutions indicated above did not work, we recommend following the indications below:

1. Turn off the smartphone's Bluetooth

2. Turn the smartphone's Bluetooth back on

3. Start the search for Bluetooth devices again

If the problem persists, pleas contact us at the address info.care@texa.com sending a description of the problem and the data related to your smartphone.

SOLUTION 4:

Disassociate any devices connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth (earbud, hands-free system, car Bluetooth) and proceed to pairing, keeping them deactivated while searching for TEXA CARe.

The pairing among the smartphone and TEXA CARe was successful but there are disconnections. What can I do?

The problem may be caused by a area saturated by the number of wireless devices switched on. With your vehicle, move to an area without external interferences and try again.

The pairing message is not displayed during the configuration procedure. What can I do?

We recommend following the indications below:

1. Turn off the smartphone’s Bluetooth

2. Turn the smartphone’s Bluetooth back on

3. Perform the configuration procedure again

If the problem persists, pleas contact us at the address info.care@texa.com sending a description of the problem and the data related to your smartphone.

If I deactivate the GPS in my smartphone, do I deactivate the one in TEXA CARe also?

TEXA CARe does not have its own GPS module, therefore it relies on the one in your smartphone. Always leave your smartphone’s GPS on in order to make the best use of the TEXA CARe and CARe App services.
ATTENTION: If you turn off your smartphone’s GPS, the SOS function will not be able to detect your position in case of need.

The Find Vehicle function indicates a wrong position. What can I do?

Remember not to deactivate the GPS or Bluetooth on your smartphone and not to force the shutdown of the CARe APP during your trips: these actions may cause the Find Vehicle function to not work properly. Furthermore, some GPS modules are slow at acquiring the position and may cause failures in the Find Vehicle function. Finally, make sure you have authorised the CARe APP to use the GPS and that the power saving mode is not active.
